Flapy is combination of logic and action game. It was implemented on many 8bit computers (MSX, SHARP, PMD 85). This is implementation for Palm Platform. Game contains room editor and it is possible to create new room databases. Demo version contains 8 rooms. Full version can use room databases.

This is a Questions production. Visit out web pages at http:\\questions.hyperlink.cz. There is also lot of free software we have produced there.

Author takes no responsibility for any adverse effect that this software could cause to your machine or the data on it: backup important data before using Flapy.

REQUIREMENTS

As Flapy uses 16 shades of gray, Palm device with EZ processor is required.

GAME RULES

You are small creature called Flapy. Your task is to position the egg on special place called nest. You must avoid your enemies (crabs and parrots). If you collect small mushroom, you can throw it to your enemy. If the enemy is hit, it will sleep for short time. If there is no platform (wall, stone etc.) under the egg, it will fall down. Stones fall down also. If enemy is hit by falling stone or egg, it is killed. Same rule applies to you! There can be more than one egg or more than one nest. The room is completed, if all eggs are on nest or if all nests are filled with egg.

Flapy is controled by you. He can go up, down, left or right. If he is carrying some mushrooms, he can throw them to hostile creatures.
Stones can be pushed by Flapy. If there is no obstacle in the direction in which the stone is pushed, it will move in this direction. Otherwise the stone will be shattered. If there is no obstacle under the stone, it falls down. If some creature is hit by falling stone, the creature is crushed by this stone.
Egg has the same behviour like stone, with the exception that it cannot be shattered.
This is the place, where the egg must be positioned.
Crab is very dangerous enemy. It is inteligent creature and will find you anywhere.
Parrot is enemy, which can move only right or left.
Mushroom can be collected by Flapy and thrown to enemies. If enemy is hit by the mushroom, it will sleep for some time.

TITLE SCREEN



PLAY Start game. If proper code is entered, enter room selection screen with this code. Otherwise start in first room. This button is not available if there is no room in current database or if there is no database.
EDIT Enter editor.
DATABASE  Enter database manager.
SETUP Enter the setup screen.
CODE Current room code. Write letters using graffiti to enter the room code. Backspace can be used to delete last written character.


SETUP SCREEN



On this screen, you can set the preferences for the game. Tap find icon on silk screen area to return to title screen.

BUTTONS Select one from three available button layouts for game.
COLOR Select color for Flapy.


PLAYING THE GAME



You can use hardware keys to control Flapy. Keyboard layout can be selected in setup screen. Another possibility is to tap with pen somewhere on graffiti area.

Tapping the menu key will display the menu.


CONTINUE Close menu and continue game.
RESTART  Flapy will be killed and current room will be restarted. (If this was not your last life.)
QUIT Cancel the game and return to title screen.



EDITOR



In this screen, you can design your own rooms, or edit existing rooms (if you have database access code). If you played the game before going into editor, the editor will cotain the last played room.

At the top of screen is toolbar. There you can select object to place. Current object is displayed at the left top corner of the screen. If there is no object, you will erase objects from room.

TEST Test current edited room. There must be at least one egg and one nest in the room. If it is not, room is finished immediatelly.
BROWSE  Enter room database browser. You can not use this function if the database is empty (contains no rooms). You need the edit permission to be able to use this function. You will get the edit permission, if you enter the last room code in the title screen and enter the editor.
CLEAR Clear current edited room.
APPEND Write current room into database. This room will appear as last room in database. You need the edit permission to be able to use this function. You will get the edit permission, if you enter the last room code in the title screen and enter the editor.
CODE Current room code. Write letters using graffiti to enter the room code. Backspace can be used to delete last written character.



ROOMS BROWSER



Room browser can be used to view contents of the room database. It can be started from editor screen, if you have the database edit permission. Browser displays allways four rooms at once. Using the page up or page down keys you can show preceeding of following four rooms.

In the right top corner of the screen is displayed code for these four rooms. If you enter different room code, browser will display the rooms attached to this code. If the code does not exist, current code will be changed to new code.

There is proporcional scroller at the cottom of the screen. You can use it to navigate through room sets. It is especially usefull with databases with lots of rooms.

If you tap on some room in browser, menu with editing options for this room will be displayed.


CUT Cut selected room from database and copy it into editor. If it is necessary, one room code will be deleted (the last one).
COPY Copy selected room into editor.
PASTE  Insert room from editor before selected room. If it is necessary, new room code will be generated (the last one).



DATABASE MANAGER



Flapy can use different room sets stored in databases. In database manager, you can select database, which will be used by game, delete them, rename, or create new. List of currently available databases is displayes. Current database is marked by flapy. Press PageUp/PageDown to chage the current database or tap it with pen.

SELECT  Current database will be used. You will be able to play or edit rooms in this database. If the database is empty, editor will be started. Otherwise this function returns into title screen.
DELETE  Current database will be deleted.
RENAME  Rename the current database. You will be asked to specify new database name.
NEW Create new, empty database. You will be asked to enter new database name.



After you have specified the name, new database will be created.
